Free time

In addition to the demanding course of study, it is very important to let your mind wander with a good book or find other ways to relax. The university also supports students in this regard. In addition to a leisure library with novels, travel guides, biographies, etc., it offers them further opportunities for leisure activities. It is worth noting that students – like all Bundesbank employees – are entitled to 30 days of annual leave. In the year of employment, this is granted on a pro rata basis. April (23 days) or October (8 days). This means that it is possible to take vacation days even during the time in Hachenburg or in the internship, provided that this does not conflict with the completion of examinations in accordance with the examination regulations or other work-related reasons.

On campus itself, there is a cozy room with two pool tables, a dartboard, and two foosball tables, which are also used for small competitions, as well as a bowling alley. Here, as well as in the party room, which is equipped with its own music and lighting system, welcome and farewell parties organized by entire classes take place regularly, as well as smaller birthday parties. The castle also has a well-stocked reading room with a coffee machine and cooking facilities (including international daily newspapers and trade magazines) as well as a small room with fitness equipment and table tennis tables for free use.

If you want to end the day in a relaxed atmosphere, the castle's own pub, “Schlosskeller,” offers the perfect setting in the evening. It's a wonderful place to chat, reflect, or play games. Alternatively, you can watch sporting events together on a flat-screen TVall at student-friendly prices.

The university also supports its students outside the campus. It has rented sports halls for various team sports on several days of the week and covers the costs of admission to the public indoor and outdoor swimming pools. In order to offer as many students as possible a similar range of activities to those offered by the Bundesbank's sports club to its employees at headquarters, the university has also signed a cooperation agreement with the local sports club. This gives all candidates the opportunity to keep fit with volleyball, Pilates, yoga, dancing, and even tennis in the warmer months.

If this offer is not enough for you, you can sign up at your own expense at one of the gyms that offer customized rates for students. Alternatively, you can pursue your passion for music in one of the city's choirs or orchestras. Last but not least, the region's extensive and well-developed forest and hiking trails invite you to go for walks, bike rides, or jogs.

But the cultural program in Hachenburg is also impressive. In addition to a movie theater and numerous restaurants and pubs, it offers a number of events, including the traditional fair in August, markets that take place throughout the year, as well as cabaret and concert events.
