Accommodation and meals

All students have access to accommodation and meals during their studies at the university, including on weekends. The university is only closed during the break between Christmas and New Year. In all stages of their studies, students have the opportunity to attend lectures remotely as part of so-called flexibility phases.

During these two- to three-week phases, lectures are held either online or in a hybrid format, meaning they can be attended in the lecture hall or from home. Compulsory attendance at the university is waived during this period. Accommodation and meals are of course also provided during this time.

Depending on the university's occupancy situation, some students are accommodated in modern single or double rooms in two dormitories within walking distance. All rooms, whether on the castle campus or in one of the two dormitories, are equipped with modern furniture, desks, shelves, and a bathroom. In addition to a TV and free internet access, bed linen and towels are provided and changed every two weeks as part of the room cleaning service. Washing machines and dryers as well as irons and ironing boards can also be used free of charge.

The university kitchen offers full board. The chef ensures that fresh salads and a menu option for vegetarians and vegans are always available. Students help themselves to all meals at the buffet.

The cost of full board, i.e. breakfast, lunch and dinner, is €345.00 per month, or €11.50 per day. Accommodation costs €242.25 (€8.08 per night) for a single room and €128.25 (€4.28 per night) for a double room, including room cleaning, bed linen and towel changes, and internet access.

Students who have their own apartment in their hometown can claim the relevant travel and separation allowances. However, students who do not have their own apartment and live with their parents, for example, can also claim allowances. All students will be informed in detail about these allowances before they start their studies during the so-called “orientation days.” It should be noted that accommodation at the university is not a permanently provided apartment, but a room in the university's boarding school. It is therefore not necessary to move your primary residence to Hachenburg.

If parents, siblings, spouses, or partners would like to experience life at the castle for themselves, they can reserve a room at reasonable rates on weekends, subject to availability (bed and breakfast).
